Hashtag Hallelujah for Jesus Christ and the Atonement!!!

Hello world!!!

So as I was laying in bed last night, not being able to fall asleep, I was reflecting on this past week. It was so long and so hard and I thought I wasn’t able to make it by the time it was Saturday. SATAN IS REAL. But it was also one of the best weeks I’ve had on my mission. THE ATONEMENT IS EVEN MORE REAL. And yeah, I can remember the
circumstances that made this week hard, but I honestly can’t remember those feelings of discouragement or sadness or any negative feelings. I am just really happy!!

Miracle #1
COREY GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!!!! The Mission Department has been making a huge emphasis on teaching repentance and baptizing CONVERTS and let me tell you, Corey is converted. He is amazing and so prepared and I know I’ve said this so many times but it has really been the biggest privilege to teach him. His wife, Natalia, gave the talk and she said
something along the lines of “I am really grateful for all you that came and be I can’t wait to see you all again a year from now at the temple because this family is getting sealed for eternity.” I love this family so much!! I would bend over backwards for them. Also they
are the most faithful people ever. They came to sacrament meeting yesterday but then left right after. We were a bit panicked and then we got a text from Corey saying they were at the HOSPITAL because Natalia was not feeling well at all. And then no word after. The
baptism was at 4:00 and we were faithful that it was still going to happen. During my personal study, I was reading 3 Nephi 21 and I can testify that God speaks to us through the Book of Mormon. Verse 10 and 27 really stuck out to me because I just thought of Natalia and Corey.

10 But behold, the life of my servant (Natalia) shall be in my hand; therefore they shall not hurt [Natalia], although [Natalia] shall be marred because of them. Yet I will heal [Natalia], for I will show unto them that my wisdom is greater than the cunning of the devil.

27 Yea, the work shall commence among all the dispersed of my people, with the Father to prepare the way whereby [Corey] may come unto me, that [Corey] may call on the Father in my name.

I knew Heavenly Father was going to take care of them and that Corey would be baptized. And it ended happily ever after!!

Miracle #2
We got this AWESOME referral from Mormon.org and we got to finally meet him on Thursday!! He has had a rough history and really wants to change. Like he REALLY wants to change. I have never seen someone with such a strong desire to change. We told him that we were so impressed that he took that first step in reaching out and also meeting us at the church. That takes SO much courage. We met with him three times last week and every lesson was so powerful. My understanding and gratitude of the Atonement has strengthened so much and I am so happy that we get to share it with him and help him have that access to the forgiving and healing power of the Atonement! I think my favorite part of lessons in general is bearing testimony of the infinite and eternal sacrifice that Jesus Christ did for us. Anyway, he came to church on Sunday. Preface, he said he was suuuuuper nervous. But after church, we called him to follow up and he just sounded so happy!! He said the talks and lessons really hit him and he was so happy he came and he’s
definitely coming back next week! Also, in our first lesson with him, we set him on date to be baptized on April 10 and invited him to pray about it. When we followed up, he was confident and said yes!!! I am so excited to continue to work with him and learn from him and see how much his life will change!

Miracle #3
We met with a less active on Saturday. This is the first time we met him this transfer because he always flaked out last minute. But it was so awesome. He is also so willing and desiring to change his life. 2015 was a really really hard and trying year for him. We testified to him of the refiner’s fire and of the Atonement (yay!!) and invited him to come back to church. And guess who came to church yesterday? HE DID!! And after, he texted us saying that he received an epiphany during sacrament meeting so we can’t wait to hear about it when we meet him tomorrow! It really is true when they say that it’s like a
baptism when a less active returns back to church.

Those were just some of the MANY MANY MANY miracles that happened this week. We also had Zone Conference and exchanges with the Alhambra sisters. I got to be with Sister Xia for the day and that was so great in itself!!

I know the Mission Department was inspired and that it was revelation when they emphasized teaching repentance and baptizing converts. I love the principle of repentance and teaching it. Acting on that faith in Jesus Christ and repenting is how we can access the power of the Atonement. And it is powerful and it changes lives. I love being a missionary and helping people learn how to access the Atonement themselves.

I am SOOOOO excited for this week, for it being Easter week!!!  I love my Savior, Jesus Christ and I love all the challenges and trials I face because it gives me another opportunity to come closer to Him. I love my Heavenly Father and I am grateful that He loves us so much that He was willing to sacrifice His son for us. I love the Atonement and I love the Plan of Salvation. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!

I invite you all to watch the Easter video that the Church came out with, #Hallelujah. Go to FollowHim.mormon.org to watch it! It took Sister Robinson and I a little while to like it, but now, I LOVE IT!! It gives me the goosebumps every time I watch it. I know that through
Jesus Christ, you can find new life!! So if you’re in a place where you don’t want to be or if you have something you want to change about yourself or your life, come to know Christ and He will help you!

Have a JOYOUS Easter!! Take a little extra time to think about, commemorate and celebrate Jesus Christ and all that He is and has done for us!!

My Purpose as a Missionary

Hello world!!

I am so happy. I am so grateful! Every day, I grow to love my purpose as a missionary more and more. I love fulfilling it as a missionary and the more I consecrate myself in doing it, the more fulfilled I feel. I love spending everyday inviting others to come unto Christ by
teaching them faith and repentance and preparing them for baptism and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. And I love the principle of obedience. We taught about obedience in both of our Zone Meetings and it increased my desire to be more obedient. I love the White Handbook and all the mission rules!!! I have learned that being strictly obedient and working with unwearied diligence makes the mission much more rewarding. The mission is an exercise of obedience.

This week, we had two Mission Leadership Conferences and two Zone Meetings and a Mission Conference. WOOOOOOO. It was a week full of awesome and direct counsel. Basically, there is a stronger urgency to change!! To be more obedient, to be more focused, to be more converted, to be more fearless and assertive in contacting and declaring our purpose as missionaries, to change our teaching style to make them more effective, to teach repentance and baptize converts. I wish I could share every single thing I learned from these meetings because they were all so inspired. On Saturday, we were joined and
instructed by Elder James J. Hamula of the Seventy. At the beginning of his remarks, he said that after shaking each of our hands and observing the conference for the first five minutes, he already knew everything he had to know about the mission. And because of that, he decided to forgo his original plan because he didn’t think we needed it and just did a Q&A with us. The whole time, it was like straight up revelation and complete guidance by the Holy Ghost. So cool. He also told us that the place we get called to doesn’t matter whatsoever. It’s about which mission president we get assigned to. He said if
President Villanueva was assigned to a different mission, we would be there too.

As for our area, it’s doing great!!! We are working so hard to get our members pumped up for missionary work and we are seeing the fruits of our labors!! Also our most golden investigator is still the most golden and he is going to get baptized this Sunday!! ALSO, a referral from headquarters called us!! We called him about three times and he never picked up but then he called us!!! That is the first time that has happened to me on my mission so it was really exciting. He wants to change his life and he knows us missionaries can help him. YEAH WE CAN!!

Sorry for the short-ish email this week. But I love every single one of you and I love being a missionary!!!! I want to be here forever and never go home.

Also, SISTER GUAN AND LARRY GOT BAPTIZED IN ARCADIA YESTERDAY!!!! By Brother Li!!! I am so grateful and happy for them!!!!

A Week of Christmas

Hello world!!!

This week was so GOOD!!! It felt like Christmas everyday, hence the subject line.

Miracles upon miracles upon miracles. I can’t even remember all of them and all that happened this week, but I can just remember that it was a BOMB week.

We set three of our friends on date for baptism! Okay so preface. Our mission president has been having this push for baptizing converts monthly and leadership needs to set the example. Neither Sister Robinson or I have baptized monthly so it was kind of stressing us
out. At the beginning of the week, we set two of our dear friends for April (WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR THEM!! They are so amazing and humble!!) but we still didn’t have anyone for March. Then MIRACLE STRAIGHT FROM HEAVEN:

A part member moved to our Ward from Frasier Park last week. The wife was baptized in December and the husband just LOVES the church. They came to church on Sunday and our Bishop (who is seriously the bestest ever) invited them over for dinner along with us missionaries. We had a great dinner and then taught a lesson. The Spirit was so strong and
Bishop and his wife bore powerful testimony and when we extended the baptism invite for March 20, the husband was like “Yes, I would really appreciate and like that.” I felt like we were in The District or something. It was so unreal. And the funny thing is that the wife said when she got baptized in December, he did not want anything to do with the church or meet with the missionaries and she told him she would give him five years. Well, their previous ward did a phenomenal job fellow shipping them and less than five months later, he’s agreeing to get baptized! Only in God’s true work does this kind of stuff happen. I am so grateful to be a witness of this. THE GOSPEL AND CHURCH IS SO TRUE. Oh my goodness, this family is so bomb. They have a one year old daughter and they were saying how they wanted her to serve a mission. And then they said they wanted to serve a couple mission!!! AHHHHHHHH. It took all self-control not to squeal in that lesson. I love this
work so much.

Ooh guess what? Gladys Knight is coming to do a special fireside here in Arcadia on April 22!! We had training on it last Saturday and were told that this was the easiest way to do missionary work haha. She’s done this fireside a couple of other times in California and Texas and now she’s coming here!!! So we are to invite everyone and their dog to this fireside. And we are to train our Ward Councils as to how to get them and the whole Ward to invite their friends to this event. During the training on Saturday, we got to hear a ton of miracle conversion stories from these fire sides so it’s going to be awesome!!!

Speaking of that training… It was the best surprise ever!!! Basically Christmas. We thought it would just be like a Zone Meeting or Conference, but when we got there, ALL MISSIONARIES WERE THERE!!!! I almost about died and went to heaven. It was so good to see all the Chinese missionaries as well as all the English and Spanish missionaries from my previous zone. IT WAS SO HAPPY. So many of these missionaries have blessed and changed me and my life! I love missionaries.

We also found another part member family!! We have been blessed with finding many part member families and it’s the best. The wife is less active and the husband is not a member but they are super cool and down to learn more and meet us!! We get to see them tomorrow!!

Last week was kind of weird because we didn’t have any exchanges or anything… Our meetings and exchanges got cancelled. But it was a tender mercy because Sister Robinson and I got to work together the whole week and focus on our area. Nonetheless, this week is looking super hectic. We have two Mission Leadership Conferences and a Zone Meeting and an exchange… But I know the Lord will take care of us, our sisters, our investigators and our area.

Also can I just say I LOVE SISTER ROBINSON!! She pushes me like no other and it is the best. We have so much fun together and the member we live with told us that she always hears us laughing like hyenas. Life is really good now.

Okay I can’t remember much else from this week, just that it was awesome and I wish all you guys could be with me and experience this because it is just TOO. GOOD.

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOMMY!!!! I will be singing happy birthday on Saturday!! Love you lots!!

Have a splendid week!!

Sister Huang

Hello world!!

Okay so Sister Robinson and I are drained and dead so this week’s email might be a lot shorter. Our stress reliever for the week was yesterday when we tried to fix our super clogged sink. Yep, that was our stress reliever.

Wait first, I just want to say that BROTHER LI GOT BAPTIZED YESTERDAY!!!!!! I was so so sad I couldn’t go to the baptism, but thanks to mom and Megan Chan, I got pictures!!!! Sister Guan and Larry will be baptized on March 13!!!! LIFE IS SO HAPPY!!!!! That family has
my heart forever and ever and ever. Good job to Elder Ng and Elder Oh!!

So this week was crazy. We had three exchanges and two of them were back to back. And all three of the exchanges were us bring the whole companionship to Sunland to work with us for the day. It was a great learning experience – each sister had so much to offer and teach us – but it was so draining. I’ve been stretched emotionally and spiritually on the mission, but this was definitely a huge stretch physically and emotionally.

On Tuesday, we went on exchanges with Sister Ballard and Sister Colson. I was with Sister Ballard and man, do I love that sister! She is so real and personable and she has a true love and sincere desire for her investigators. She has only been out for three months, but she
is on fire. We were able to find a miracle golden investigator that night. We were originally looking for her mom, but then she answered the door and said her mom wasn’t home so we said we would come back later. Three hours later, we came back and it was still just her. So we talked with her and then all of a sudden, she just opened up – her history has been a really rough one – and said she has developed a solid relationship with God but that she wants to go to church really bad. However, she wasn’t able to make it yesterday because she just got a new job 😦 But we will hopefully meet her tonight! We also picked up her mom on Friday and she’s awesome as well.

On Wednesday, we went on exchanges with Sister Mann and Sister Xia and Sister Gong. I trio-ed up with Sister Xia and Sister Gong. We spoke so much Chinese!!!!! It was great. It was also awesome to work with Sister Xia after 4 transfers – she has grown and changed so much and I am so proud of her. And she was BOMB at contacting in English. The whole day, I kept telling her “YOUR ENGLISH HAS GOTTEN SO GOOD!!!” She’s a powerful missionary and the most loving friend and sister. Always and forever my conjoined twin.

On Saturday, we had a kind of a crazy exchange. It was with Sister Plumb and Sister Vaea (who are the happiest missionaries ever!! They laugh so much and it’s so contagious) but we also had Missionary Weekend where a youth from the stake comes with us missionaries for a day. So I was with Sister Plumb and a girl from the stake and Sister Robinson was with Sister Vaea and another girl from the stake. Haha it was crazy. The stake told us missionaries not to sugarcoat anything as to what real missionary life. The girl with Sister Robinson and Sister Vaea definitely did not get ANY sugar coating whatsoever. I’m not
going to expound on it, but it was so bad that it was just funny. Anyway, Sister Plumb is the bomb.com and she is so happy and nice and loving and I loved being with her. She’s been out for six months and is so much farther ahead than where I was at six months. She talked with everyone and it was so natural and not awkward and just awesome overall. I learned so much from her!

Sister Robinson and I are still trying to catch up on all the people we met while we were on splits with exchanges – it was so hectic last week. Good, but hectic haha. This week, we only plan on having one exchange so we will have a lot more time to work together. I love
Sister Robinson so much. She is always pushing me to be better, more consecrated and diligent.

I know I talked about this last week, but I just LOVE the message of the Restoration and Joseph Smith! We taught it many times this week and each time I teach it, my testimony and conviction of it strengthens. We had a lesson with two less actives last night where we
taught the Restoration. After the lesson, both Sister Robinson said that in our 13 months of serving, that was the most powerful Restoration lesson we have taught. I can’t even begin with how powerful the Spirit was in that lesson. I wish I could sit there forever.

Ooh another miracle! One of our less actives came to church yesterday
and stayed for Relief Society! This was the first time she’s come to
Relief Society in a really really REALLY long time! It was a big deal.
And the sisters in Relief Society just flocked to her and loved her.
It was so happy.

Okay so that turned out to be a longer email than I thought haha. Well, I love you all so much. I know I say that every week, but it’s true. Every week. I know Joseph Smith restored Jesus Christ’s true church back on the earth with ALL the truth that are in its purest forms. I know that God calls prophets today and that they do receive revelation to help lead and guide us. I am so grateful to be Christ’s representative! I am so grateful to serve Him. I know the Atonement can change every person’s life for the better. I know its healing power is beyond real. I LOVE THIS GOSPEL!!!!!!
