大家好!(Hello everyone!)
I felt that I got so much out from personal study this week. Don’t get me wrong, I get a lot out from personal study every time. However, this week seemed like the Lord wanted me to know even more. Sometimes, I wish that we had more than an hour to soak up all of God’s words, but it would be kind of pointless to learn so much and not share it! And that’s where the real joy comes in too.
So one of the things I focused on this week was how I can better use my time, aka, the Lord’s time. There are so many things to do and often, I get extremely stressed way too easily. As I was studying Preach My Gospel, I ended up reading Jacob 5 where it talks about the analogy of the working in the Lord’s vineyard. I remember reading it several times in the past and not really understanding it at all. However, when I read it this time, I was enlightened, edified, comforted and strengthened.
I want to share some of the verses that really hit me:
-v. 12: it reminded me that the Lord gave Alhambra – this part of His vineyard- to my companions and me to take care of. We must watch and nourish the “trees” in Alhambra, but only according to how God wants us to do it. Therefore, it is CRUCIAL that we do all we can to know His will and more importantly, we need to humbly submit to His will.
-v. 61: we have to labor DILIGENTLY in order to bring forth good fruit. A lot of times, we will have to labor for a long time before we see any fruit. BUT, the Lord promises us that the fruit will be the MOST precious of all other fruits.
-v. 75: THE MISSIONARY’S DREAM. This is what I think ultimate success and happiness feels like. But what I love even more about this scripture is how it says “blessed art thou; for because ye have been diligent in laboring with me in my vineyard.” Key word: WITH. Although we are His servants in His vineyard, He is still laboring with us. He is helping us every step of the way. We are not doing this alone. We are doing this WITH the Savior.
-another thing I learned from this verse: we as missionaries need to bring forth good, NATURAL fruit. Not artificial. People should not be converted because of a specific missionary, social reasons, other people’s influence or other pressures. That is artificial. Natural to me means that people should be converted to Jesus Christ and truly understand His Atonement. They need to have their own testimony through their own efforts to pray, read the scriptures and come to church. That is natural.
Also a lot of times in this chapter, it uses the word graft. I looked it up on the dictionary and graft has several meanings. Two of which are:
1.) a shoot or twig inserted into a slit on the trunk or stem of a living plant, from which it receives sap
2.) word hard or hard work
So let us all graft and work hard with the Savior in His vineyard. We are all in this together!
We continue to see miracles every week. Many of our investigators this week took a leap of faith and began to ACT. And how God has blessed them! It all starts with taking that first step of faith.
I love you all so dearly! I know that this is the Lord’s work. Missions are such a sacred time to get to know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ on a deeper level. To love them more. To appreciate them more. I feel like it’s a time where God teaches you one on one. It’s so personal.
Have a wonderful week!

Hello world!!!

Alhambra is AWESOME. The Valley Branch is probably THE most 给力 ward/branch I have ever been in. Just to give you a glimpse as to how driven this branch is, their baptism goal for this year is one baptism a week. And their branch mission plan is legit. Brother Lew, our branch mission leader, is legit. The presidency is legit. Everything about this branch is too legit to quit! I am so grateful to work in such a missionary-devoted branch. It has made the adjustment a lot easier and I am pumped to do this work in this part of the Lord’s vineyard.
This week basically involved a lot of meeting new people and getting used to the area. I think I said this last week, but Sister Chan did such a good job strengthening this area. She left us with several really good investigators so we are doing our best to keep them on track.
There is yet still so much for our trio to learn. A lot of times, it gets really overwhelming, but the power of the Atonement is real. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are always there for us. Jesus Christ understands everything that we go through. He cries with us and He rejoices with us. Whenever you feel alone or lost or like no one understands, turn to Him. Do all that you can to gain the simple testimony that He lives and that He atoned for you and me. I promise you, just having that knowledge makes life a million time better, happier and more hopeful.
I want to share a scripture that I read today. It is Mosiah 4:9
“Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.”
I know that Heavenly Father lives! He knows ALL so don’t be hesitant to ask! He loves you more than you can know. Share that love to everyone through serving and sharing the gospel.
I love you all so much! Have a wonderful week 🙂

Hello world!!

So Saturday was transfer calls. With the fact that we only have 5
sisters with one going home next transfer (Sister Chan) and the other
(Sister Huang) in two transfers, and only two areas, we all had a
pretty good prediction as to what the next transfer would be like. But
God is full of surprises. The whole zone kinda got a huge bomb dropped
on us.

Another one of our Chinese elders (Elder Simmons) got transferred to
English work for his last transfer. And we are getting an elder from
English/Spanish work coming to Chinese work. And as for us sisters…

Sister Xia and I are going to Alhambra and we will be in a TRIO
(again) with Sister Gong and Sister Huang and Sister Chan will be in
Arcadia! We were all so shocked. Why would Heavenly Father put the two
experienced sisters together and the three just-graduated trainees
together? To be honest, when we got the call, I was filled with pure
fear. I felt and still feel so inadequate and not ready at all to
leave my trainer and Arcadia.

However, I have received so much comfort and faith  through reading
the Book of Mormon and yesterday’s despidida. The Zone Leaders texted
us 1 Nephi 3:7 on the night of the calls.

“And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and
do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord
giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare
a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth
them.”

We have shared this scripture with almost every one of our
investigators – usually to help them get more motivated to follow a
commandment – so we all have it memorized and know what it means. But
I feel like this is the first time I am truly implementing this
scripture in my life (sounds weird, I know). I am grateful though
because I feel like if I am to share this scripture with investigators
to help them strengthen their faith to keep a commitment, I need to
internalize it myself and I KNOW this transfer will make that happen.

This transfer will definitely be the hardest yet, but I know that
Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is right by my side, every step of
the way. They will not let me fail. I also feel that my testimony and
love for the Atonement will grow a hundred fold these next six weeks
and I am excited. Change is extremely hard for me, but I know this is
Heavenly Father showing His love for me. He is refining me through
trials and challenges. How grateful I am to have a Heavenly Father who
loves me SO much to let me burn in the fire for a little (or a while).
I want to share another scripture I found and love:

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that
tribulation worketh patience.”
Romans 5:3

Let us glory in tribulations, for they will only make us better and
more like our Savior Jesus Christ.

Have a wonderful week!

Bringing Souls to Christ

DSC00653
Hello world!!!!
Yesterday was glorious. Wang Ping was baptized! She truly is a powerhouse. In the two weeks that we met, taught and became friends with her, we have seen how much hope this gospel has brought to her. I loved what she told us Saturday night when we told her how the baptismal service would go down. She said that before she came in contact with the church, she had no direction. She just thought life was life and when it ended, it was over. However, knowing that there is a Celestial Kingdom, a goal, gave her so much more motivation and purpose. She truly understands and loves the Plan of Salvation. She now has this eternal happiness.

The baptismal service was wonderful. The Spirit was oh so strong! Sister Huang and I sang “I Need Thee Every Hour” and even though my singing capabilities are very poor, I felt the Spirit testify through us to Sister Wang that Jesus Christ will always be by her side. That her decision to be baptized and enter into this covenant is so right. I am so incredibly proud of her. I know she will bless her family through her example and she will bless the church, especially in China. I love her so much. How amazing it is to be a part of this work and to bring souls – our own brothers and sisters, God’s children – unto Christ. To help them open the door to the path back to Heavenly Father. To bring them home. This work is marvelous. It truly is the Lord’s work. I am grateful everyday to serve Him and His children.

We had another awesome thing happen yesterday. Sister Huang was in Alhambra contacting with the sisters so Sister Xia and I went to visit some people. We ended up having 40 minutes before our next lesson so we thought we could do some contacting. The only place that was close by was a park in South Pasadena. We had passed by this park several times before and every time, we only saw Hispanics and Caucasians but never Chinese people. However, Sister Xia and I prayed in faith that we would find Chinese people to talk to. Then BAM. We got out of the car and lo and behold, a Chinese couple is walking towards us. They weren’t interested at all, but it was a still miracle. As we kept walking further into the park, there were more and more Chinese people! Sister Xia and I were in awe. While we were at the park, we contacted a family and were able to set up a time to do a church tour with them! MIRACLE! And then, the dad said he will probably come to our church meeting next Sunday! MIRACLE! Man, I love this work so much.
I hope everyone is doing well!! Thank you for all the love and support and prayers. I love you all so much! Do something nice for someone today!
Love,
Sister Huang
